EAI baseline ATAC™ products consist of the C-2 tactor and a variety of multi-channel controllers. These components have been used in a wide variety of military, commercial and biomedical demonstrations and development.
ATAC™ systems can be configured as portable, light weight, battery-powered systems or lab based, rack-mount instruments. USB, serial, or Bluetooth interfaces are supported.
Wearable C-2 tactor arrays are available in various mounting configurations, and in pre-made elasticized belts, bands and vests.
ATAC™ technology provides researchers and developers with a range of proven tactile transducers (tactors), tactile arrays and the associated hardware and software systems. This enables a multitude of practical tactile systems for military and commercial applications.
Some specific advantages of ATAC™ technology
- Minimal size and weight of tactors and related hardware (wiring, connectors and controllers) enable easy integration into wearable garments.
- A design that isolates the tactors from the effects of damping due to loading by the skin or external garments and structures (belt, seat etc).
- High fidelity to fully utilize the available tactile cognitive bandwidth. This includes selection of both tactor characteristics (frequency and amplitude) and tactile patterns (temporal and spatial) to provide context appropriate and intuitive tactile cues.
- Hardware and software provided as a tightly integrated, user friendly system that allows mapping the sensor inputs via an application specific algorithm to a common, intuitive tactile symbology.
