TSAS TEST BED
There are potentially a large number of flight parameters
that can be provided to a pilot via a tactile display.
In order to develop and evaluate TSAS, EAI has developed
a TSAS Test Bed (TSAS/TB). The TSAS/TB uses the X-Plane flight
simulator and provides an effective platform to which our
modular and scalable tactile hardware may be refined and tested.
Two computers are used to run the test-bed, the first runs X-plane
and the visual displays. The second computer runs the TSAS inter-face,
TSAS algorithms and TDS software. Pedals, cyclic and collective flight
controls are used.
TSAS/TB – Low cost test bed for TSAS tactile hardware, algorithm and TDS software evaluation. The TSAS/TB consists of two computers that are linked via UDP. An open source commercially available flight simulator, X-plane, is used as the helicopter flight simulation engine. The EAI TSAS TDS is used to control the tactor system. A proprietary emulation of a multi-function display (MFD) is also shown and is helpful for TSAS control and debugging purposes.
